alphabet prints...

Hello all, another design idea for Etsy today...again this is an idea that has been floating around for ages in my head and has now finally made it into real life! I had originally only designed the retro brown/orange colourway but thought this might not be everyones taste, so I developed the fresher blue/green colourway which I am also really pleased with as it's still funky and bright. I thought these could either be sold as the alphabet print or a personalised letter/name print, or maybe both together? But could be an odd shape to frame...any thoughts?x

While I was in Cambridge recently I picked up a copy of the new John Lewis catalog and instantly fell for the new Retro Reborn collection. I saw a few pieces in-store that I loved and had to be dragged away from kicking and screaming like a little kid because I wanted them all! I have taken a few pictures of my favourite pages from the catalog and chosen a few key pieces from each to share with you today, there is so much more but I would have ended up posting the whole collection on here! anniversary print...

Hello all, hope you had a good weekend? This is a design I've had for a while but I haven't been able to share it with you because it's a 1st year wedding anniversary (which happens to be paper) present for my friends and I didn't want to spoil the surprise by posting it on here first! I'm really pleased with the design and the sketchy, doodle feel of the font. Plus the cute heart shaped apples on the tree! I have thought about using the design as a personalised print to sell on Etsy, as either an anniversary or wedding present, with a choice of coloured backgrounds...good idea? x

Hello everyone, hope your week is going well, the weekend is almost here! As you may have figured out I was off carbooting (is that a word?) yesterday morning...This is probably the last of the carboot sales before the weather turns really cold, but as you can see the sun was shining and once the morning chill lifted it was glorious!

This is my favourite local carboot so I thought I would share a few shots of the weird and wonderful things that I often wish I could bring home with me! As you can see from the pictures there is such a selection of not just the usual carboot stalls with books and knick-knacks but plenty of vintage stalls, house clearance and retro delights! I could go every week and easily spend £100! I'm really craving an old metal sign at the moment but it just needs to be the right one (and at the right price...) and I'm in love with vintage sideboards, I have seen two here now that I would have straight away if there was any room for them! And they were only £20! *sigh* Never mind I'm sure there will be more another day!

Now of course I didn't come away empty handed (how could I with such a veritable treasure trove of goodies on display!?) I bought one of the little old bird cages pictured below, it was a bit sad looking and the back section was falling off but generally in good condition! So as you can see I have given the inside a lick of paint as that was very grubby and only paint could cover it, but the outside is nicely worn and I want to keep some of the original feel of the piece. Inside I plan to line it with some pretty paper or fabric and make some little wire birds to home inside, so I will keep you updated with my progress on my little project! Hope you have enjoyed todays carboot-fest...x

littletree discovers...Ching He-Huang at Typhoon

 I was having another browse throught the October issue of Living Etc yesterday when right near the back, tucked away in a little corner was this teeny, super cute soy sauce pot! Aww...of course I instantly wanted to give it a home so I hopped on over to Typhoon to have a look at the rest of the collection designed by chinese foodie Ching He-Huang. I love the modern chinese patterns, the fresh, bright colour palette and the little wooden lids! So here is a sneaky peek of a few favourites...what do you think? Makes me want to get the wok out and stir-fry up a storm! x

Hello all, as some of you may know I am rather partial to anything retro, especially if it is for the kitchen! Some of my favourites are my Pyrex dishes, I love the patterns and colours plus they're so practical and last forever so you can use them everyday! Today I thought I would share some of the lovely Pyrex pieces I am craving at the moment over on Etsy, plus a couple of designers that love Pyrex so much they have created artwork and products based on the classic kitchenware. Above are a few prints designed by Ana at Lolabags, I really like the bold colours and simplicity of these designs which capture the era of most Pyrex designs, these would certainly brighten up any kitchen wall.

Hope you haven't minded me sharing my bizarre obsession with you, I know it is a little odd but clearly I am not alone out there with the Pyrex loving as some of these pictures prove! Anyway enough day dreaming about retro kitchenware, it's out of my system now I promise...better get on with some work!x

beautiful books...Angie Lewin: Plants and Places

Happy Monday to all! Hope you had a good weekend? Today I thought I would share another beautiful book with you, this time it's Angie Lewin's Plants and Places. I had bought this book as a present for my mum last christmas because she loves Angie's lino prints and already has a few cards framed and dotted around the house. Now as much as I would have loved to buy her an actual print it was just slightly out of my price range...by a few hundred pounds...so the book seemed the perfect choice! This book really is beautiful  and that is no exaggeration, it has plenty of the prints that Angie is famous for but also highlights her design process. From sketching plants out in her garden or a feather on a walk by the beach, doodling in her many sketchpads, to the design development stages and even the lino cutting process. It has been edited and arranged in such a way that makes it a joy to read or just flick though...it really is just so special my pictures here don't do it justice, so I urge you to buy or at least browse a copy, you won't be disappointed. x

Just a quick share for the weekend but I couldn't resist! Having a browse around this morning I saw over on Bright Bazaar that the new Fall 2011 issue 6 of Sweet Paul Magazine was coming out soon...now I have heard rumblings about said magazine but have never got around to having a look! So today being Saturday and perfect for a leisurely browse I popped over to Sweet Paul's blog (also fab reading) and had a look through the Summer 2011 issue...well that was a few hours ago now so I think you can guess that I liked the magazine! So much so I had to go right back to first issue in Spring 2010 and read all the way through to the most recent! The magazine has such a lovely mix of food, craft, interiors and styling ideas not to mention that it is just pretty to look at! So if you have a little spare time (a few hours...) over the weekend I urge you to pop over and browse a few of the back issues, you won't be disappointed. x
