pinterest pick of the week...

Happy Friday everyone! Today I may have gone a bit mad and become party planning obsessed! Now my birthday isn't until July but I never do anything much for my birthday and so this year I want a proper party, if it turns out anything like this pic above I will be in heaven! Today's pins all come from one of my fave pinners I shared a few weeks back, Louise of the blog Love Print Studio. She has so many lovely boards of food and styling ideas so I have done a little mix of three boards...'party.style', 'yummy.sweet.things' and 'yummy.party.food'...

And last but not least...cake!

Having to stop myself from licking the screen here...hope you have enjoyed a little party planning with me,
as usual the sources can be found through the links above.
Hope you all have lovely weekends and I will see you back here next week! x

littletree visits...V&A British Design 1948-2012

image HERE

Hello blog peeps, sorry if you didn't hear much from me yesterday but thank you for all your lovely comments! I was in ol' London town visiting the V&A's British Design exhibition which I will say is a definite must see if you are in London or coming for the Olympics. The exhibition is packed full of design classics through the ages to ooh and ahh over, from fashion and furniture to cars and computer games...as well as other 'classics' such as the design of the humble traffic light!

I particularly enjoyed the many fabrics on display, including a piece of 'Calyx' the famous Lucienne Day design for the 1951 Festival of Britain...it was very hard not to sneak it off the wall and pop it in my bag! One little surprise was seeing a Campden Candelabrum by Robert Welch (below) because I'm sure I have one at home that I picked up from a bootfair for £1.50! I didn't know who the designer was before so I'm going to do a little research...maybe I have a real find on my hands!

my one at home...

The V&A shop was all decked out in British Design loveliness with the columns wrapped in giant fabric prints and even some beautiful glass sticker decorations (below)...as usual I desperately wanted everything but I did manage to come away with only a card...although I now want these lovely books (below, below)...oh and this Rob Ryan ruler...and one of these 'Time for Tea' prints by Marcus Walters too! Sigh...so much stuff so little money...hope you enjoyed this sneaky peek and get to see the exhibition, it's on until 12th August. xxx

littletree's top 5 blogs...april

Yes it is that time again, another month has flown by and it is now even a good few weeks into April, eeep! Why is it that when you're a kid time never seems to go quick enough, like counting down the weeks and days until the summer hols, yet when you're an adult time seems to just zoom past in a flurry of busy-ness? Oh well at least the time passing now means it is spring and Mr sun has certainly been shining (well up until the weekend!) so I suppose I can't complain too much...and to celebrate the new season I have a new crop of blogs to share with you today!

You may notice as you scroll down that either I can't count or there is an extra blog in this months list and you would be right...there are indeed 6 top blogs this month, basically because I just couldn't trim down the list anymore! So enjoy your mini bumper edition and I hope you find a new favourite! x

a little update in the land of littletree...

Hello my lovely blog peeps! Hope you all have a great Easter break and you aren't too sick from scoffing chocolate 24/7...I have been rather busy and so today is a little update on a few going's on around Littletree HQ.

Firstly I have finally updated the 'must reads' section of the blog, I have been rather slack at keeping up with this and so I had a loooong list of new blogs to add! Plus I have made a new 'food blogs' section for those of you who, like me, love a good bake! I think Spoon Fork Bacon is still my #1 but go check them out and tell me your faves...

Second is rather exciting...I have taken the plunge and opened a Spoonflower Shop! I'm still in the process of uploading designs and I need to order some test swatches before I can sell any fabric but it's still pretty great! I can't wait to get creative with my very own designed fabric! Pop on by and have a peek...

And last, but not least...drumroll please...my new and improved Website is up and running! I am hoping that it is better laid out and simpler to navigate than before, I would love to hear what you think blog friends! Oh and please let me know if you spot any spelling mistakes, I hate that!

So there we are, all caught up on things! I have some goodies planned for this weeks posts including April's Top 5 Blogs, so do pop back soon! Have a good week everyone xxx

pinterest pick of the week...

A Happy Good Friday to all! As you may have already guessed this weeks pinterest picks are going to be Easter themed...Easter seems to have gone mad in the UK this year! Especially the crafty side of things which I think is great as I always remember decorating eggs and making chocolate nests during the easter break as a kid...so todays picks are from the board 'easter' by Sue Craft, there are some lovely ideas here so it took a while to pick just these few! Hop on over using the links above for more Easter goodness...x

How cute are the dancing chicks?! Love them...As usual find the sources through the links above.

littletree bakes...chocolate egg nests

With Easter approaching, plenty of Mini Eggs in the shops and a box of Cornflakes in the cupboard what else was I to do other than make the classic Easter Chocolate Egg Nests?! Plus is there anything better than melting chocolate...it looks sooo good! And I had these super cute pastel coloured cupcake cases left over from another bake, perfect for an Easter treat...Now I'm sure you guys all know how to make these but just incase here is a quick how-to...

  • Melt a bar of good Chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, make sure the bowl doesn't touch the water.
  • Once the Chocolate has melted turn off the heat and gradually add in your Cornflakes* a little at a time until all the chocolate is coating the flakes and not the bowl.
  • Spoon into cases and press in the Chocolate Eggs whilst warm. Leave to cool or pop in the fridge for 30mins or so...too long and they will be too hard to bite into!
  • Store in a tin in a cool place but not the fridge...Enjoy!

*You can also use large Shredded Wheat crumbled up for a real 'nest' like look.

...Hope you give them a go they really are the best thing about Easter in my book! Have a good day!x

oh what a lovely drinks cabinet...

Hello again blog friends, how are we all? I got this lovely drinks cabinet recently from a friends mum, it belonged to her mum and is rather sentimental to them all but no-one had any place for it to go so I have taken it on and I am honoured to have it for the next phase of it's life as it is a lovely piece of furniture. It has an unusual curved shape to the front and I love the pattern on the glass doors, amazingly none of the glass is damaged but the body isn't in the best shape...the wood veneer is quite bad on top and faded on the sides so I think a coat of paint would be best. Only problem is...what colour?! I don't have a specific place for it to go so can't match it to the surroundings...so do I go super neutral with white, a grey or colour? I'm lost!

Image from alice apple

This lovely cabinet was done by Alice of the alice apple blog and I think the white looks great and makes her china really stand out, which is what I will probably display in mine. So I thought maybe white for the inside and colour outside? Do you have any ideas or pics of re-vamped cabinets I could use for inspiration? I really need some help!x

a little Easter DIY...

Hello all, Easter is almost here so this DIY is probably a little late but it is such a good idea I just had to share it! These fab mini magnetic tins are from Ikea, meant for spices I think, but the lovely lady from punkt.punkt.komma.strich has turned them into these cute little Easter dioramas! I found this DIY through the Ikea Hackers blog which then lead to the original blog post...such a clever idea isn't it!? You could do all sorts of different displays in them to liven up your fridge or at Christmas they could be used as an advent calendar, put the numbers in the back and fill with sweets or chocolates? What do you think?x

littletree discovers...lasso the moon

Good Monday everyone, how are we all? Good I hope...today I have a little (or a lot) of love for this fabulous online shop which has cherry picked some of the greatest designer/makers the UK has to offer...welcome to 'lasso the moon'.  I found this great shop through Monda Loves' blog as she has a range of items for sale there and once I had clicked the link I was lost for a good half hour just browsing all the great designers with goodies for sale! All the images are perfectly styled and photographed which makes the experience even better in my book...there are about 67 designers in total so I won't bore you all with tonnes of pics, plus you will probably hop on over here to take a peek yourselves, so I have picked a few of my favourite designers to quickly share with you...enjoy! xxx
